Questions to think about

Have you ever gotten in trouble or suffered for doing something good?

Why do we have so many admonitions in the Bible to keep doing good? (e.g. Galatians 6:9-10)

Why aren’t we to be afraid of those who threaten us?

What type of things are non-Christians afraid of? Why don’t Christians have to be afraid?

How can we be ready to explain a reason for our hope as believers?

Why are we supposed to do it in a gentle and respectful way?

Why does Peter add “once” in verse 18 when he says that Christ suffered for our sins? Why is this important?

What’s so important about the resurrection of Jesus Christ?

Questions to think about

How can we have a positive impact on those around us?

Why do we (humans) struggle with obeying those who are in charge (e.g. – parents, teachers, government officials, etc.)?

The Bible is clear that we are to obey the government and those in charge. When (and why) is it okay to disobey those in charge?

What does it mean to “submit”?

How is it possible to do good even if it means suffering?

How does Christ’s example speak to your situation? How does looking at Christ change your behavior?

What does it mean for Christians to be “of one mind”?

Questions to think about

Have you ever thrown something away only to find out it was valuable after you did so?

Why do we use stone/rock for building memorials?

Typically we think of stones as lifeless – “Stone dead” is an English idiom that goes back centuries to emphasize there is absolutely no signs of life or movement in something. Why does the Bible describe Jesus as a “living Stone”? What does that mean or imply?

For those that believe the stone is precious, but for those that don’t believe it’s just an obstacle and could even crush them (Matthew 21:44). It’s the same stone (Jesus), but why does it do such different things? (Give life versus crushing)

What does the war against your soul look like? (1 Peter 2:11)

Why would being a Christian bring false accusations from non-Christians?

What is the motivation for living a good life even among people who aren’t like us and may even persecute us?

How does it make you feel to know that you are chosen by God, a royal priest, part of a holy nation, and God’s special possession? How does this affect the way you live?
